The NW25-100 passenger car electrical package is designed to be a fairly small, yet complete, power control center for use on coaches and other cars with a simple electrical demand and conversion to operation at 480 volt, three phase power is desired.
This unit is available in several size patterns. The unit pictured here is 20 inches wide, by 62 inches tall, by 8 inches deep. Greater depth clearance does need to be provided for maintenance of the panel controls, which are accessed through a hinged lid.
The features of the NW25-100:
- Amtrak and transit compliant HEP Main Breaker for 480 volt power coming from the head-end power system.
- Five 480 volt, three phase circuit breaker positions (not including the HEP main breaker). Typical unit also includes 480v overhead heat breaker, 480v air conditioning condenser breaker, and 480v to 208v transformers.
- Three-phase power monitor prevents damage to HVAC equipment by preventing operation when power supplied to passenger car has incorrect phase rotation or voltage imbalance.
- Short-Cycle Timer to prevent Air Conditioning Compressor Overheating.
- Thirty 120 volt, single phase circuit breaker positions, which may be combined into 208 volt single phase or 208 volt three phase circuits.
- Control for four HVAC stages:
- Single stage air conditioning and three stages of heating, or two stages of air conditioning and two stages of heating.
- Other HVAC stage configurations may be built to custom order
- Blower speed increases during air conditioning stage to prevent coil freezing
- Space provided for one additional HVAC stage to be added as an option
- Current Temperature Display and Set Point Temperature Display
- Illuminated switches provided for automatic or manual operation of HVAC system, and provide quick visual information on system operation
- 24 volt control voltage circuit breaker
- Emergency lighting circuit breaker and relay provided for automatic operating of emergency lighting system.
- Control system connections made to rest of car with compression terminals
- Custom-made engraved plastic labels can be made to order for whatever electrical loads are in an individual passenger car.
- Built-in 480 volt to 24 volt transformer supplies all low voltage electrical equipment on the NW25-100.
- All panel covers are powder coated (not painted) to provide a high-quality, long-lasting finish.
- Hinged cover over control components provided with strap to allow for in-place hands-free service.
